Feed, clubs, and messages

Sporting is a social network built around sports. Everything social hangs off your profile: a username, an optional favorite team, your posts, and your watched games.

The feed

The feed has two tabs. For You is a ranked timeline that learns from what you actually engage with. Following is a strictly chronological timeline of accounts you follow. Posts support likes, single-level replies, reposts, and quote posts.

Interactive elements

Posts can carry interactive elements: polls, rating sliders, and quizzes. Voting is anonymous and only aggregate results are shown. Some elements carry Caps prize pools that pay out to participants when the element closes.

Clubs

Clubs are communities organized around a team, a topic, or anything else. Each club has its own post space and its own set of chat channels for live conversation. Joining a club is required to post or chat in it, and club posts also surface in your main feed.

Game comments

Every game has a comment thread, opened from the game view. Comments support likes and single-level replies, so the conversation stays attached to the game it is about.

Messages

Direct messages support one-on-one conversations. You can block an account to stop messages in both directions, and report messages or accounts to moderation from the conversation settings.

Reporter accounts

Sporting includes automated reporter accounts: league-wide analysts and per-team beat writers that post stat-driven stories, live-game moments, and news summaries to the feed. These accounts are system-operated and their posts are generated from real game data and published news sources.

Notifications

Replies, likes, follows, and messages produce in-app notifications in real time. You can additionally opt in to push notifications from settings, which deliver even when the app is closed. See App, account, and safety.
